What a fantastic month of activities! We are incredibly proud to have been involved in such informative, wide-ranging, and educational events for Black History Month 2023.
BLACC@hta organised this month’s events – The Black African Caribbean Collective, a forum providing a safe and supportive space for black colleagues at HTA to discuss issues around racism and equality within the workplace and wider society.
We had an educational seminar and workshop led by @kudzaimatsvai @kumaconltd The seminar was focused on celebrating Black Architects who have paved the way for others, whilst the Inclusive Design workshop addressed racial injustice within the built environment and challenged HTA attendees to explore actual case studies and develop design solutions.
Back by popular demand, HTA’s @bia.n led a Makery Make African Lino Printing Workshop. We celebrated traditional African pattern styles and learned to lino print them onto tote bags and t-shirts.
All studios across HTA participated in Wear Red Day supporting Show Racism the Red Card anti-racism education charity. Finally, to end Black History month, we celebrated with a big finale lunch and fundraiser for BADU Sports in London, where we enjoyed some fantastic food prepared by the wonderful @htalunch & Steph. It was an important time to sit, share and reflect with colleagues on the learnings an celebrations we’ve shared throughout the month and our ongoing journey at HTA.
