Crystal Palace Park Play Area

21 Mar 2024

We hosted our second consultation event for the play area at Crystal Palace Park earlier this month.

The new play area will be inspired by geology, excavation and prehistoric beasts, encouraging children to use their imagination to explore, interact, engage and learn from the history of a very special park. Emerging designs were presented, showing the public how we have responded to feedback from the first event in November 2023 and over 500 comments received online.

Interactive sessions enabled participants to develop ideas for their dream piece of play equipment, create their own Dinosaur creatures and mono-print fossils and ancient plants. Fragments of the famous Crystal Palace Park Dinosaurs were on generous loan from @historicengland, allowing people to appreciate how the sculptures were made.

Our landscape team were appointed as multidisciplinary lead for @lbbromley‘s masterplan for the park in 2023. Since then, we have been working on the restoration of key areas including the Tidal Lakes, Geological Court, Lower Paxton Axis, Penge Gate and the Italian Terraces in close collaboration with the @crystalpalaceparktrust Our communications team are working on wayfinding for the first phase of the park’s regeneration and interpretation for the new visitor centre designed by @tateandco_

Crystal Palace Park echoes our 20-year history as leaders in park design and landscape led master planning.
