The landscape has been designed to respond to and complement phase 1 which has currently been delivered and phase 3 which is consented. Within the masterplan, Central Gardens has been designed as an extensive new park providing new green resource for local people. The park welcomes those arriving from the new Elizabeth Line station. Rich planting provides interest, drawing people through the landscape, this becomes progressively softer towards the Grand Union Canal and Minet Country Park. A new green link connects Central Gardens to ‘The Wetlands’ a character area where new play is introduced around biodiverse planting that significantly increases local habitats.
Across the wider masterplan, green infrastructure includes open meadows, woodland planting, accessible canalside walkways and ecological corridors. Two new bridges are provided over the Grand Union Canal, connecting the Green Quarter, Southall and Minet Country Park.
