London has secured a record £11.7 billion in affordable housing funding over the next decade, the biggest and longest-term settlement the capital has ever received. More than £6 billion is already being allocated, representing a major vote of confidence in London’s ability to deliver new homes.
The funding will build on the progress already being made, helping to deliver thousands more social, affordable and council homes across the capital.
The latest phase of Kidbrooke Park Road was recently visited by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan; Housing Secretary Angela Rayner; Minister Matthew Pennycook; and Tom Copley Hon FRIBA, who came together to announce the new funding.
Delivered by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, the development provides 452 affordable family homes. Designed by HTA and built by Durkan for Greenwich Council and Greenwich Builds, the project has transformed previously inaccessible brownfield land into a net-zero development of 100% affordable council homes for the local community.
Kidbrooke Park Road also includes biodiverse landscaping, active play spaces, a nursery and a new community centre. It is one of the country’s largest new council housing schemes and demonstrates how previously underused land can be transformed into high-quality, genuinely affordable homes.
