Our services
HTA Sustainable Futures provides sustainability, energy and building physics services across RIBA Stages 1 to 6.
Strategy and analysis (RIBA Stages 1–3)
• Energy, sustainability and carbon strategies: low-carbon energy approaches that meet or exceed planning policy, including London Plan targets.
• Sustainability statements: planning documents explaining how a scheme meets local and national sustainability policy.
• Daylight, sunlight and overshadowing assessments: analysis of internal daylight to BRE guidance, impacts on neighbouring buildings using Vertical Sky Component (VSC), and sunlight to outdoor amenity spaces.
• Overheating analysis (Part O): dynamic thermal modelling to Building Regulations Part O and CIBSE TM59, informing window sizes, shading, ventilation and façade design.
• Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA): measurement of operational and embodied carbon across a building's life cycle.
• Wind microclimate studies: pedestrian comfort analysis to identify and mitigate wind hotspots around buildings.
• Circular Economy Statements: strategies to reduce waste, reuse materials and design for future adaptability.
• BREEAM pre-assessment: early strategy for BREEAM New Construction, Refurbishment and Fit-Out, Infrastructure and Home Quality Mark.
• Passivhaus design and modelling: early-stage designPH and PHPP modelling to make schemes Passivhaus-ready.
Compliance and certification (RIBA Stages 4–6)
• SAP calculations and EPCs: Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) energy modelling and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) production.
• Thermal bridging analysis: junction modelling to reduce heat loss and improve the accuracy of SAP results.
• BREEAM certification: management of the assessment process through to final certification.
• Fitwel certification: health and wellbeing certification for residential and mixed-use buildings.
