Communications & Engagement

In London’s largest regeneration ballot, residents voted overwhelmingly in support of Wandsworth Council’s long-term renewal plans for Roehampton’s Alton estate. The proposals were developed by HTA Design in collaboration with the council and local community.

The design emerged from an extensive programme of community and stakeholder engagement, including public exhibitions, weekly community group meetings and focused workshops. In September 2025, residents were invited to vote on the plans in the largest estate regeneration ballot ever held in the UK. Of more than 3,200 registered voters, 43% participated, with 82% voting in favour.

We were commissioned to create a bespoke standalone brand to communicate the plans consistently and positively throughout the ballot process, while emphasising resident ownership. The resulting ‘My Alton, My Vote’ campaign used clear messaging to engage residents and encourage them to share information.

Friendly illustrations helped make the plans accessible to everyone and were applied across a range of materials, including a multilingual FAQ document, the Landlord Offer and the Section 105 engagement process.

An outdoor gallery installed on Block A, which is due to be demolished, provided an informal space where residents could view the plans and speak with the project team throughout the day.
