Clapham Park Refurb

The architectural approach carefully preserved and enhanced the 1920s Heritage Quarter, retaining its neo-Georgian character defined by red brick façades, tall sash windows, steeply pitched roofs, dormers, and prominent chimneys. Refurbishment interventions were deliberately restrained yet transformative, introducing new entrances, lift towers, and balconies that improved accessibility, safety, and everyday use while respecting the original London County Council housing typology.

New-build elements were designed as contemporary infill, responding to the scale, rhythm, and materiality of the historic blocks without imitation. These additions, including residential buildings over commercial units along Kings Avenue, helped repair the urban edge, improve street presence, and integrate landscaped courtyards and shared spaces, creating a cohesive and legible estate environment.
